Andy Winnefeld

Andy Winnefeld
Vice President

Andy began running in middle school at age 13. He was always interested in sports, but not very athletic. Joining the track team it became apparent that speed was not his forte. He was asked if he would like to run distance events. That is how his running life began. It has never ended, except for brief stints of inactivity due to injury or life events.

He grew up in Ohio and was a member of the Zanesville Ohio Tortoise and Hare Running Club. He moved to the Western Slope in 2007. On his second day in Colorado, he found the Lunch Loop trails and thought he was going to fall down and die while running! The local running store that existed then signed him up with the Striders and he has been running with them ever since.

Don't expect to see his name on the leaderboard of any race. Do expect to see him plodding along in Palisade in the darkness, fire smoke, snow and anything else that nature can conjure up!
