After retiring from the Army and moving to Grand Junction in late 2014 I found that I was missing some of the camaraderie that I had experienced in the military. I started trail running in 2015 and in 2016 found my way to the Striders' Thursday night trail runs. I found a warm welcoming group that was happy to see old and new faces alike. I have since moved away from GJ but still call many Striders my friends and join runs whenever I have the opportunity. I run many of the same races as other club members and am always happy to see a familiar face at events, feels like family.
